Check this list throughout the winter; we’ll update all the sections (alphabetically) as more titles become available. If some of these titles look familiar, it’s because they were previously available with Prime, were pulled off, and now they are back.

John Steinbeck’s beloved novella (adapted for the screen by renowned playwright Horton Foote, Trip To Bountiful) comes to the screen under the direction of actor/director Gary Sinise (Forrest Gump). Best friends Lennie and George find themselves unemployed in Depression-era California, unable to keep jobs because of Lennie’s childlike mentality. But once they get hired at the Tyler Ranch, they enjoy a brief period of stability until their supervisor’s wife becomes the victim of Lennie’s compassion, forcing George to make a compassionate decision of his own.

Dancing on the Edge (2013)

Vienna Blood (Season 2)
The new season of “Vienna Blood” sees the return of the awkward but brilliant relationship between young Max Liebermann and troubled cop Oskar Rheinhardt. Season 2 opens with the suicide of Max’s patient, the Hungarian Countess, but was it suicide or was foul play to blame? This crime sets the tone for the rest of the cases the duo will need to solve, including one where Oskar receives anonymous messages about a homicide and the killing of a monk, leaving Max and Oskar trying to understand the power of belief.

Call the Midwife (Season 10): It’s 1966, and it’s a testing time for the midwives. But there’s excitement, too, as the women’s rights movement intensifies. With Trixie’s help, Sister Julienne is determined to steer Nonnatus House out of its financial quandary. Available here December 7, 2021.
The Last Duel: Jodie Comer “makes her mark” (Owen Gleiberman, Variety) in this thought-provoking drama set during the 14th century in France from visionary filmmaker Ridley Scott. Based on actual events, the film centers on one woman’s (Comer) accusation that she was brutally assaulted by Jacques LeGris (Adam Driver), her husband Jean de Carrouges’s (Matt Damon) friend. Now, in order to prove his wife’s claim, de Carrouges must fight LeGris to the death, the victor believed to be determined by God. All three lives hang in the balance in this gripping, cinematic film. Available here December 14, 2021.
The Piano (The Criterion Collection) [Blu-ray]: With this sublimely stirring fable of desire and creativity, Jane Campion became the first woman to win a Palme d’Or at Cannes. Holly Hunter is achingly eloquent through silence in her Academy Award–winning performance as Ada, an electively mute Scottish woman who expresses her innermost feelings through her beloved piano. The Waltons: Homecoming (2021): This remake commemorates the 50th anniversary of the television movie that launched the long-running series. Set in the 1933 Depression Era and told through the eyes of John Boy, the 17-year-old eldest child of John and Olivia Walton. It looks to be the Waltons’ first Christmas without John Sr. When Olivia receives a letter that John Sr. is planning to make it home for Christmas after all, the family is thrilled and races to prepare for his homecoming. But when a storm threatens his arrival on Christmas Eve, and John Sr. is nowhere to be found, Olivia sends John Boy out into the night to find his daddy – a journey that will change John Boy’s life forever.
