Gran Hotel is about a young man during the early 1900’s, who visits a hotel investigating his missing sibling. Getting a job at the hotel he manages to fall in love with the daughter of the owner. It’s a love story as much as a mystery story. The series, filmed at the Palacio de la Magdalena in Santander, is set in an early 20th century aristocratic hotel during the reign of King Alfonso XIII and is centered on the mysteries that involve the owner family and the hotel servants.

Set in 1905.

“Grand Hotel is the Spanish version of Downton Abbey, but much, much better. It has two of the most beautiful leads and an amazing story line that draws you in. It is addictive.” – Viewer review

Starring Yon Gonzalez and Amaia Salamanca.

Note: Linked here is Region 2 for those of you overseas and with multi-region players. At the time of this writing 9/15, it doesn’t appear to be on didc for Region 1. However, it is on Netflix and is well subtitled in English. The show ran on Spanish TV in 70- to 80-minute episodes, but Netflix broke it down into digestible 45-minute episodes, creating “weird and super cliffhanger moments that have you jumping right into the next episode holding your breath.” – Tampa Bay Times
