The story of two orphans who come to Nova Scotia at the turn of the century to live with their grandfather, a stern and bitter man who is tormented by the loss of his only son.

Newly orphaned brothers Harry and Davy, arrive to Nova Scotia from Scotland to live with their embittered Grandfather MacKenzie who forbids them to have any contact with the Dutch Boers. When young Harry finds a lost baby on the beach, he convinces Davy to tell no one and they care for the infant in the boys’ fort. Upon discovering the whereabouts of the lost infant, false accusations are made against the MacKenzies, yet a Dutchman stands up for the boys in court, softening Grandfather MacKenzie’s heart, helping him to accept those who are different, and find love for his own grandchildren.
