This film covers the rise and fall of the last of the Russian Romanovs, an epic tale of the last years of their dynasty, from the birth of Prince Alexis in 1904 until the family’s execution in 1918. Czar Nicholas is devoted to his German bride Alexandra. When Alexandra gives birth to a hemophiliac son, she enlists the help of mystical holy man Rasputin. As Rasputin’s influence grows, the Russian peasantry becomes more disgruntled.
